Shakira's Music Video Thumbnails Haunted by Sudden Appearance of Cryptic Robots

The pop star's famously truthful hips have yet to address the bots

No fightin' — but people have noticed some seriously strange things going on with Shakira's catalogue of music videos right now.

Onlookers just watched as the Colombian pop star was robbed by wild boars last year, and some more careful watching has led to the discovery of a robot in the background of the thumbnails for some of her music videos on Vevo.

The watchful eyes of Reddit were the first to spot the bot in the preview for "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" and postulate whether this was an indication of new music to come or a sign that Shakira's official account had been hacked. The rectangular robot is also embedded into the background of the thumbnail images for "Hips Don't Lie," Black Eyed Peas collaboration "GIRL LIKE ME," "She Wolf," "Wherever, Whenever" and more.

Since the singer has yet to address the new android lurkers, fans have continued to spiral in speculation about what it might mean. Is Shakira launching an NFT collection? (But if that were the case, wouldn't a monkey make more sense?) Is Shakira about to begin an electropop era? Have the robots actually been there all along?

As of press time, the bots are seemingly not present in the actual video clips — just the photos that appear on the YouTube and Vevo pages. Frankly, it's a little disappointing, because we don't get to see them dance.

Anyway, we've been left with a lot of questions we fear only Shakira's famously truthful hips can answer.
