It's been a busy month for avant-rap unit Shabazz Palaces. After recently announcing some opening dates for Radiohead and unveiling a music video for their Lese Majesty's "Dawn in Luxor," the group have now confirmed a live album through Third Man Records.
The label reported today (May 23) that the Seattle duo of Ishmael Butler and Tendai Maraire will be the next outfit to deliver a concert LP through the "Live at Third Man Records" series. Their set was captured last year at Third Man's Blue Room, with the recording done direct to acetate. The performance found the pair dishing out tracks from Lese Majesty and their 2011 debut, Black Up.
"Shabazz Palaces' obstinately original oeuvre emanates from a fully formed higher conscious," Third Man's Ben Swank said in a statement. "They plant their flag in the outermost realms of the hip-hop global soundscape where vibrations throb into beat-heavy explorations, chrome covered constellations of higher reveries each offering its own sonic boom."
