Shabazz Palaces Announce Second New Album, Share "30 Clip Extension"

Shabazz Palaces announced their plans to return with new LP Quazarz: Born on a Gangster Star late last month, but that wasn't the only project they were keeping under wraps. A second companion LP, titled Quazarz vs. The Jealous Machines, will also arrive on July 14 through Sub Pop.

Described as the "extra-spatial twin" to the aforementioned Gangster StarQuazarz vs. The Jealous Machines tells the story of protagonist Quazarz and "his dazzling cohorts rising a collective Nah to the device and the guilds that proliferate them." The announcement comes alongside track "30 Clip Extension," which you can hear below via a new lyric video.

Quazarz vs. The Jealous Machines was produced by the Palaceer Lazaro (Ishmael Butler) and Sunny Levine, and features appearances from Fly Guy Dai of Chimurenga Renaissance, Amir Yaghamai, John Carroll Kirby, Thaddillac, Morgan Henderson, the Shogun Shot, Laz, and Purple Tape Nate.

The full-length is also set to see release as a limited-edition illustrated album. Featuring illustrations by Joshua Ray Stephens, the book arrives August 18 in collaboration with Fantagraphics Books.
