The Tenby Chase

BY Dan CohenPublished Jun 1, 2002

This album doesn't start in a way that particularly endears itself; the first song has the white boy rapping that made the Beastie Boys famous and that Sum 41 rode into stardom. Thankfully, the rest of the album is a departure from the first song and closer to the press release's description of a mixture of Sublime and the Bosstones. It isn't as bad as all that though, the band doesn't copy the style of those two and there is a definite influence of more poppy ska bands like Reel Big Fish. The album doesn't blow me away, but the band's energy comes through on the recording and they go far beyond being just a "mixture."
