Sex Pistols Guitarist Steve Jones Says He Never Listens to His Band's Music: "I'm Fucking Tired of It, to Be Honest"

He says he'd rather listen to Steely Dan

It's hard to look back on your previous work and not cringe just a touch, and probably more so when that work is a canonized piece of pop culture legend.

In the spirit of that sentiment,  Steve Jones — who played guitar for the Sex Pistols during their brief sprint of a career between 1975 and '78 — has revealed in a recent interview that he's "Fucking tired" of his band's music, and would rather listen to Steely Dan.

In an interview with The Telegraph talking about the new FX series Pistol, Jones discussed helping Australian actor Toby Wallace— who plays Jones — prepare for his role.

Jones describes helping him with the dialect and body language of his younger self, but he says he stopped at revisiting his band's music:

"I never really listen to the Pistols' music anymore," Jones admitted. "I'm fucking tired of it, to be honest with you. I'd rather listen to Steely Dan."

Honestly not a terrible choice! Talking about Wallace's performance, Jones said that the actor "captured a sensitive side, and he got it spot on. You know, I was illiterate when I was that age. I didn't have a clue how to act, and I had no self-esteem, barely, and I think he got that down."
