Selina Martin

"Hawaii" (video)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Feb 10, 2016

The winter months probably have most Canadians dreaming of the warmer days to come, or maybe even a trip away. Well, it seems Selina Martin is in the same boat, and she's sharing that sentiment in a new video for "Hawaii."

An ode to smoking weed and sipping tropical drinks on the shores of the Aloha State, the quirky pop tune gets paired with visuals that capture the feel of Hawaii — without leaving Toronto. Filmed at the city's west-end Hawaii Bar, the clip follows Martin inside, where she takes over the dive with a live performance.

In a fun twist towards the end, she walks outside and is met with a bright, sunshine-y gang of friends decked out in floral prints and leis for a brief choreographed dance break and an enthusiastic stroll down Dovercourt Rd.

The song appears on Martin's elaborately titled forthcoming album Iʼve Been Picking Carusoʼs Brain, I Think I Have the Information We Need to Make a New World (or Caruso's Brain for short), which will be self-released on March 4.
