Sean Nicholas Savage Toasted by Mac DeMarco, Doldrums, Majical Cloudz on New Covers Comp

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Feb 12, 2013

Of the many artists on Montreal imprint Arbutus Records, pop eccentric Sean Nicholas Savage is arguably one of its most beloved. He was the label's first release and has delivered a series of LPs over the last five years with the imprint. Now, his songbook is being toasted via his labelmates on the new freebie covers compilation Taste of Savage: His Pupils Sing His Music.

According to a press release, the 17-song collection features "a group of artists brought together not by genre but by circumstance: a shared home, one which Savage represents as a primary character in the Canadian music scene." This includes Arbutus cohorts like Majical Cloudz and Doldrums, as well as pals Mac DeMarco, No Joy's Jasamine White-Gluz, Renny Wilson and Pat Jordache, who all take on Savage tracks.

The tracklisting scours Savage's back catalogue, "ranging from anthems to obscure gems."

Down below, you'll find a stream of Taste of Savage, which you can also download here.

As previously reported, Savage has several North American shows lined up with Doldrums and Blue Hawaii. You can also see those below.
