Screwball

Y2K

Screwball caught the attention of the New York media with the thinly veiled subject of their "Who Shot Rudy?" track being New York mayor Rudy Giuliani and attracted more heads with their Primo banger "F.A.Y.B.A.N." With their Y2K release, it's evident that their overall focus is on restoring some attention to the Queens borough of New York. It seems like an eternity since Nas and Mobb Deep had New York hard-edged rap on lock and KL, Hostyle, Poet and Kyron are on a mission to reclaim some of that lustre. While they're not especially equipped with vivid cinematic insight, the hungry MCs spit every rhyme as if it's their last and get extra points for making room for borough fore-bearers Marley Marl and MC Shan amidst consistently compelling production.
