Scott Walker Reportedly Prepping New Album

Last year, we learned that the increasingly bizarre career of teen heartthrob gone noir experimentalist Scott Walker had composed an original score called Duet for One for a dance piece at London's Royal Opera House, but we haven't received a proper full-length from the artist since his uncomfortably out-there 2006 effort The Drift. We may not have to wait much longer for a follow-up, though, as it's been revealed he's working on a new studio album.

Pitchfork reports that a new Walker song was premiered at a 4AD event in New York City last night (June 21). The label didn't reveal the title of the song, nor the album title, but it's hinted the LP could drop as soon as this fall.

As for the untitled number, Pitchfork described is as an "epically unpredictable suite" that ventures "from pummelling drum rhythms to near-a cappella crooning." Ultimately, it sounds like it could be as creepy and damaged as anything off The Drift, which can't be a bad thing.
