Schoolboy Q

"Blind Threats" (ft. Raekwon)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Feb 19, 2014

It's nearly time for Top Dawg Schoolboy Q to deliver his highly anticipated Oxymoron, but ahead of that February 25 due date, our "Man of the Year" is serving out "Blind Threats."

Lord Quest's production on the track is intoxicating, spreading out smooth-jazz vibraphone hits and the sudsy swerve of symphony strings atop his nimble boom bap. Q sets us up with trap-minded front end full of pyrex and drug game allusions ahead of a raid, with a redemptive second verse laying out the struggle to survive ("Hope to get to heaven 'till that day arrive/Running through the alley, hope the bullet don't collide"). Wu-Tang's Raekwon cooks up a guest verse to close out the prime cut.

You can hear the smooth but solemn single down below.
