Scarlett Johansson Records With Members of TV On the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Celebration

A while back actress Scarlett Johansson revealed that she was recording an album of Tom Waits covers. That alone seemed interesting enough. However, now it has been revealed by Louisiana newspaper The Daily Advertiser that the Lost in Translation star has been in good company while spending time in the studio.

According to the Advertiser, Johansson recently spent 33 days in Maurice, LA's Dockside Studio with TV On the Radio's David Andrew Sitek producing. Spending 12 hours a day working on the record, the actress-cum-chanteuse reportedly invited members of Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Celebration (whom Sitek both produced) in to contribute.

Owner of the studio, Steve Nails, spilled the beans on Johansson's sound, saying: "It's like theater, big screen. Lots of heavy bass tones in it. Without a bass guitar, we used all kind of different instruments to create these sounds. It was a great experiment. Very avant garde. She sounds like Marilyn Monroe."
