Scared Of Chaka Tired Of You

New Mexico is probably one of the last places you would think of as a musical hotbed but Scared of Chaka want to change that. On their fifth album in six years, the Albuquerque-based trio kick out the jams big time (there's a cover of MC5's "Teenage Lust"). Tired Of You offers 14 songs that tear out of the garage with the aggression of the New Bomb Turks taking a 1969 Mustang for a test drive around your head. The disc is part garage punk and part power-pop, kind of like Pegboy or Naked Raygun after inhaling way too much carbon monoxide. Dangerous yet melodic. (Sub City)
