Saxsyndrum Team Up with Nancy Pants' Ohara Hale for Yeah Yeah Yeahs Cover

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Mar 15, 2016

Saxsyndrum and Nancy Pants frontwoman Ohara Hale have made a match in Montreal indie rock heaven, as demonstrated by their new collaboration — and Exclaim! is giving you the exclusive first listen to it.

Both bands will be heading south to Austin for gigs at SXSW later this week, but before they hit the road, they've unveiled a joint cover of Yeah Yeah Yeahs' classic "Maps." Staying true to their name, Saxsyndrum have doused the track in a dreamy wash of synth and drum parts, while Hale pays homage to Karen O with a hypnotic vocal performance of her own.

In addition to sharing the new tune, the collaborative acts have unveiled an accompanying video. The clip was animated by Hale and features a drawing of a hand that reveals something new each time it opens. Hearts, moons, peace signs and more float out of the palm, adding some extra intrigue to the track.
