Saxsyndrum Sign to Art Not Love Records for New EP

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jul 30, 2014

Within the past year, phonetically informative Montreal instrumental duo Saxsyndrum have released an album and a remix record. Now, they've signed a record deal ahead of a new EP.

The pair have signed with Art Not Love Records, which will release their SXD EP this fall. It was recorded with Radwan Moumneh (Tim Hecker, Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra) at Montreal's storied Hotel2Tango studio.

According to a press release, the material draws influence from the band's recent electronic remixes. Interestingly, it's split into two halves: one side consists solely of sax samples, and the other is made up of percussion samples. The sax parts are said to be inspired by the funky elements of Gramatik and Bassnectar, while the drum grooves resemble Pantha du Prince and Jon Hopkins.

At the bottom of this page, watch a minute-an-a-half-long trailer for the EP.
