San Marina

"Will It Stay" (video)

Toronto-based four-peice San Marina are gearing up for a busy summer that will see them take the stage at NXNE and release an LP titled A New Comfort. Right now, though, Exclaim! has got your exclusive first look at the band's brand new video for "Will It Stay."

The track appears on the forthcoming full-length and is a fine introduction to the band's sound — which they describe a combination of "dream pop, grunge and beach rock." Laid-back, jangly guitars and swirling vocal harmonies come together on "Will It Stay," while the video pushes things a little bit deeper.

It features a young man making his way through the streets of Toronto, taking everything in from behind a (literal) fishbowl lens.

"The idea for the video was to capture the isolation of becoming aware of your own individual perspective among a mass of other varying ones," explained Ryan Brownrigg in a statement about the clip. "We shot POV angles from inside a fishbowl to show the difference in perception, and out of body angles to show the main characters reaction to his own awareness."

The video was directed by San Marina, shot and edited by Mashie Alam, and stars the group's pal and old roommate Dan Haug.

A New Comfort is due out this summer, and the band's live schedule will include a slot opening for Ivan and Alyosha later this month, and playing alongside Chastity Belt, Tijuana Panthers and American Wrestlers during NXNE.
