Published Jun 24, 2013As if touring wasn't hard enough work as it is, Toronto roots rock vocalist Samantha Martin has thrown herself a curveball by booking summer gigs with several different incarnations of her live band.
Some of the shows are with her self-described "roots'n'roll" outfit the Haggard, while other are with a percussion-free four-piece featuring herself alongside an electric guitarist and two gospel vocalists. This stripped-down outfit formed earlier this year during an intimate showcase where drums were not allowed, and some festivals specifically requested this lineup.
There's are also a larger eight-piece ensemble, which includes keyboards and three gospel singers along with the usual rock band instrumentation.
Martin and her various lineups have Canadian shows spread throughout July and August. See the schedule below, and use the symbols to figure out which incarnation will perform at each gig.
Expect Martin to record an EP in the fall with a full-length to follow. It's currently unclear, however, which lineup and style will emerge in the studio.
