Published Feb 06, 2014On the trail promoting her tour and new live EP, Toronto songstress Samantha Martin has been working hard to take her craft to the next level. Her new EP, Mississippi Sun, is set for an April 22 release through Dollartone. Until then, she has quite a bit to keep her and her band — the Haggard — occupied, as she'll be spending the next couple of months bringing the band's music to festivals across North America and, for the first time, Europe.
But before their journey begins, Martin and her backing band, along with the Levy Sisters, decided to bring their brand of gospel-infused blues to Toronto's 3030 Dundas West to play a song off their forthcoming EP.
Listen as gorgeous triple-part harmonies and the distinct tones of three guitars reverberate through the spacious room as a bass drum and tambourine keep a walking pace in this rootsy R&B tune.
Watch the video now in the player below, and catch the crew when they bring their slide guitars and gospel harmonies to 3030 Dundas West for a free show in partnership with Junction Craft Brewing, Lacquer Channel Mastering and Exclaim! on February 15, before heading off on tour.
