It's been three long years since Sam Smith released his wildly popular In the Lonely Hour, and it appears a follow-up may finally be imminent.
Earlier today (August 10), music biz bigwigs gathered for Capitol Congress, an industry meet-up for those from the Universal Music Group. In addition to new music previewed from Beck and Niall Horan, the meeting suggested that Sam Smith's new album is almost here.
According to Variety, Smith has been working on the new album with collaborator Jimmy Snapes for two years. They apparently wrote approximately 130 songs together in Nashville. Here's hoping none of them sound like Tom Petty.
Music Business Worldwide added that the album will be released in Q4 of 2017. In other words, it could be dropping as soon as next month.
Stay tuned for more details on Sam Smith's new album as they become available.
