Sam Smith Rumoured to Be Recording the Next 'James Bond' Theme

UK crooner Sam Smith attained international success with his debut LP In the Lonely Hour this year, and now he'll reportedly be putting his chops to use on the theme song for the next instalment of James Bond.

Though there has been no confirmation from Smith or the film studio, Page Six is reporting that, according to their sources, Smith beat out Lana Del Rey for the gig. With his slick style and smooth vocals, it's easy to see why the film's producer Barbara Broccoli would be eager to attach his name to the project.

When Page Six reached out to the Del Rey camp, the publication received no comment, while a rep for Smith said, "That is not confirmed."

The as-yet-untitled blockbuster movie will continue Daniel Craig's run as the super spy and is scheduled to hit the big screen in November 2015.

The film will follow Skyfall in the Bond franchise, which garnered Best Original Song trophies at both the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes for Adele's power ballad of the same name.
