Sam Prekop Maps Out North American Tour, Shares Video

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Mar 3, 2015

Best known as the frontman of Chicago indie rock outfit the Sea and Cake, Sam Prekop recently stepped out to deliver his solo LP The Republic. The album features synthesized compositions, which were aimed at accompanying a video installation by artist David Hartt, also titled The Republic. Now the pair have teamed up again to deliver a new visual project — this time for album track "Weather Vane."

The clip features Hartt's footage of Prekop at his synth, spliced between black and white shots of a utopian urban centre.

In addition to the new video, Prekop has announced North American tour dates. He'll be joined by his Sea and Cake bandmate Archer Prewitt for the string of live shows, and the duo will be touching down on Canadian soil for one show in Montreal on May 10.

The Republic is out now via Thrill Jockey. Check out the upcoming list of gigs below, and scroll past those to watch the new video for "Weather Vane."
