Sam Cash & the Romantic Dogs

"(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" (Carole King cover)

Though Sam Cash & the Romantic Dogs have been spending their 2016 singing their Tongue-In-Cheek Vows, the band tend to deliver their music quite earnestly. Proving as much is a from-the-heart video of the band covering classic soul slow burner, "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman."

The band's take on the Carole King-penned classic is fairly straight-forward, perhaps altered most by the occasionally gravelly hew of Cash's natural vocal performance, which also hits an octave beneath either King's or Aretha Franklin's renditions. The slow-jam arrangement is presented in a black and white video, with a camera panning across each member as they perform the genre favourite.

"I like the idea of doing covers that people don't normally do, and that audiences wouldn't expect," Cash explained in a statement. "This song often gets stuck in my head — and there's just so much power in a room full of both men and women shouting 'you make me feel like a natural woman,' at the top of their lungs."

Give the video a peep down below and feel free to sing along.

Sam Cash & the Romantic Dogs will be playing Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern on September 9 with Ferraro, and you can win tickets here at Exclaim!
