Saint Alvia Cartel Video Shoot

BY Sam SutherlandPublished Sep 6, 2008

We already featured the Saint Alvia Cartel once. They were drunk, we weren’t exactly sober, and we were sequestered in the basement of the Bovine down on Queen West in Toronto. At that time, the band were riding the wave that constant repetition of your single ("Don’t Wanna Wait Forever”) can give you; they were quickly growing from an ex-members-of project into an MMVA and Juno-nominated rock'n’roll powerhouse, and that’s probably the only time in my life I ever want to refer to anyone or anything as being a "powerhouse". But dammit, I mean it.

Now, they’ve got a new record. It comes out Tuesday. The single is the title track, "Between the Lines.” I heard it about a blagillion times the day of this video shoot and I still think it’s awesome. So it’s got to be at least reasonably solid. The video is probably going to be outrageously sick, since this dude, Davin Black, who’s made a bunch of great videos for Southern Ontario punk bands, directed it. He’s a nice guy. Saint Alvia are nice guys. We hope they all get too famous to talk to us ever again.
