Said the Whale Announce 'Little Mountain' LP, Canada/U.S. Tour

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jan 18, 2012

Juno-winning BC popsters Said the Whale gave fans a bit of new material late last year when they delivered both their New Brighton EP and new single "Heavy Ceiling," but those looking for the full-meal deal will be glad to know the outfit's third full-length affair, titled Little Mountain, is set to arrive in March.

Little Mountain, the proper follow-up to 2009's Islands Disappear, will drop March 6 via Hidden Pony/EMI. Described as a "multi-stylistic tour-de-force," the recording is said to defy rock conventions without sacrificing the outfit's playful, poppy sound. The press sheet points to horn-heavy cabaret number "The Reason" and jagged rocker "We Are 1980" as a couple key tracks on Little Mountain.

To help promote the LP, the group have put together videos for each of the set's 15 songs (not including iTunes exclusive "Lesson in Crime") with Vancouver production company Amazing Factory that will be unveiled one by one on a variety of websites. The first clip, though, will arrive as an Exclaim! exclusive on February 7 in our Click Hear section. Vancouver fans will also be privy to a special screening of all the videos at Vancouver's Rio Theatre on February 25.

In support of the new album, Said the Whale will be hitting the road for a lengthy stretch of shows that will have them playing all over Canada come March, as well as find them popping down to the U.S. You can check out the schedule below.
