BC's Safe & Sound Music Fest Gets Majid Jordan, dvsn for Inaugural Edition

British Columbia's festival scene took a hit with the bankruptcy of Pemberton Music Festival earlier this year, but a new event is looking to change the province's fortunes next month with some of Canada's brightest talent.

Safe & Sound Music Festival has unveiled the lineup for the fest's inaugural edition, taking place just outside Vancouver at New Westminster's Westminster Pier Park on September 3. The bill is headlined by OVO artists Majid Jordan and dvsn, along with fast-rising Toronto R&B export Jessie Reyez and hip-hop stalwart K-os. The lineup is rounded out by Tonye, David Morin, Hayleau, Prado, Omar Khan, SJS, the Freshest, DJ Arems, Jay Swing and Andishae.

"This project has been in the works for well over a year and when we discovered Westminster Pier Park, our vision became a reality," Safe & Sound Entertainment president Paul Stoilen told Complex. "Our goal for this new festival is to showcase international talent in the most accessible and pristine of settings. The lineup came about after a decision was made to focus on emerging contemporary R&B artists like Majid Jordan, dvsn and Jessie Reyez, all of whom will be delivering unforgettable performances. We are also excited to have special guest and award winning hip hop artist K-os on the bill, seamlessly bridging the gap between genres."

Tickets for both general admission and VIP admission are on sale now, going for $55 and $95, respectively. You can find further ticketing and festival information at the event's official website.
