Published Apr 22, 2013Vancouver's Safe Amplification Site Society — otherwise known as Safe Amp — has been campaigning for some time to secure a location for an all-ages venue in Vancouver. Now the group has found one, and it will be celebrating the grand opening with a live show.
Safe Amp's new part-time venue is located at Astorino's on 1739 Venables St., just off Commercial Drive. This former ballroom and bingo hall closed its door last year and is now sometimes being referred to by the punning name SASStorino's.
The grand opening will take place on April 27. The bill for this night includes Cascadia, PUPS (Rose Melberg's new band), Chris-a-riffic, Village, Fake Tears (Kellarissa's new project), Collapsing Opposites, and the Seattle-based Chung Antique.
This all-ages show is an entirely dry event. Admission is a suggested donation of $5 to $20, but no one will be turned away for a lack of money.
