● One Night Stand VI
Now in its sixth year, One Night Stand is an annual covers night featuring a host of local collaborators, including members of Said the Whale, Mother Mother, Yukon Blonde, the Belle Game, Brasstronaut and more. The show takes place at the Rickshaw Theatre and costs $35.

● Ice Cream Social New Year's Eve: The Winter Social
Also in its sixth year, Ice Cream Social's New Year's Eve Party will feature DJs Tyler Fedchuk, Cam Dales, Trevor Risk (Sunshine) and Justin Gradin spinning a danceable selection of hits from the '50s and '60s. The dance night is at the Biltmore and costs $25 plus charges.

● New Year's Eve 2014 with Our Lady Peace
In the mood for a little classic CanCon? Big Shiny Tunes staples Our Lady Peace will be performing at the Hard Rock Casino Vancouver in Coquitlam. Tickets cost $111.25 including fees, or $151.25 including a VIP reception.

New Year's Eve 2014 Featuring Steel Panther
Slapstick metal band Steel Panther hail from Los Angeles, but they'll be at Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom to ring in the new year. Tickets cost $75, and the bill also features Hillbilly Herald and Pigeon Park. We should point out that, if you want to see Steel Panther for slightly cheaper, they will perform at the same venue the night before (December 30) for $44.

Shout Out Out Out Out are one of Edmonton's most beloved indie music exports, and they'll be ringing in 2014 with a hometown gig at the city's Starlite Room. Another local fave, Cadence Weapon, will perform a DJ set, and fellow Edmonton residents the Wet Secrets are also on the bill.

● Broken City New Years Eve Bash
To hell with DJs and bass drops: for a night of no-bones-about-it rock'n'roll, guitar lovers will want to check out Broken City for a bill chock-full of fuzz, garage and hard rock.

● NYE with Cowpuncher
Spanning country, roots and rock'n'roll, local outfit Cowpuncher will be ringing in the new year in Calgary with a show at Mikey's Juke Joint & Eatery. Tickets are $50 and comes with party favours.

● The Horseshoe Tavern Presents the Sadies
As they do every year, Toronto alt-country mainstays the Sadies will ring in the new year at the Legendary Horseshoe Tavern in their hometown. They recently released their album Internal Sounds, so the night is bound to be a good one. There are two sets: 11:15 p.m. and 1:15 a.m.

● New Year's Eve with Elliott Brood
Speaking of Toronto alt-country bands celebrating the new year in their hometown, Elliott Brood will take the stage at Lee's Palace. Tickets cost $22.50.

● The Silver Dollar Room's 2nd Annual New Year's Eve Dance Party
Those looking to dance away the rest of 2013 can do so at the Silver Dollar Room, where Bloodshot Bill will be heading up a stacked bill that also includes Stella Ella Ola (featuring Nick and Jake Boyd of Hollerado), Milk Lines, Brews Willis and Christian Hansen. There will also be vinyl DJs — not bad for just $10.

● Tranzac New Year's Eve
The Facebook event for this party promises "10 amazing acts, three rooms, one unforgettable party." The jam-packed bill includes Hooded Fang, Kashka, Maloo (a.k.a. Maylee Todd solo), Weaves and more. Tickets are $15 in advance or $17 at the door (assuming there's still room).

● The Annual Sparks Street Promenade
Located metres from Parliament Hill, this free outdoor event continually attracts music fans of all ages to the heart of the nation's capital. This year promises to be no different, thanks to performances from the likes of Cardboard Crowns, Loon Choir and a headlining set featuring Canadian hip-hop ambassador K-os.

● The 3rd Annual Slaves on Dope & Friends New Year's Party!
Slaves on Dope formed way back in the first half of the '90s, and the grungy nu-metal band will be celebrating two decades of rocking with a hometown show in Montreal. This show is an annual tradition for the band. There will be two stages and a host of bands.

● NYE 2014 at Theatre Telus
Electronic music fans will want to spend their New Year's Eve at the Theatre Telus, where Chromeo and Breakbot & Irfane will play DJ sets alongside a host of other performers: Ryan Hemsworth, Tommy Kruise, High Klassified, Mayday, Lexis and Guilty. There are various ticketing options; early bird tickets went for $25 or $35, access to room two costs $30.44, access to both rooms is $50, and open bar tickets are $80. These prices don't include service charges.

● Omisoka NYE 2014
We don't know where this show will be, since the secret location will be revealed 48 hours ahead of time at sjumtl.com. What we do know is that there will be a host of beatmakers on hand, including Kaytranada, Jimmy Edgar, Stwo, Lee Bannon, Elaquent, and more.

● New Year's Eve with the Stanfields The Stanfields hail from Halifax, and the Celtic punk band will celebrate New Year's Eve with their hometown revelers at the Marquee Ballroom. Guests the Divorcees will be on hand, and tickets cost $32.49 in advance or $37.50 the day of the show.

● New Year's Eye at Casino Nova Scotia
Matt Mays made headlines recently when Toronto mayor Rob Ford allegedly stole his seat at an NFL football game. His New Year's Eve gig at Casino Nova Scotia is standing room only, so luckily nobody will be able to steal his seat when he rings in 2014 in Halifax.

● Party on the Parade
The annual New Year's Eve Gathering at Halifax's Grand Parade Square will be hosted by the folks from CTV Morning Live, and will feature a host of Maritime talent joining forces for a free show. This is the 20th anniversary of the region's largest NYE party, and it will offer a performance from David Myles.
