Torchbearers for Toronto hardcore, S.H.I.T. have come out guns blazing on What Do You Stand For?, their utterly feral new offering that features roughly 15 minutes of no-nonsense punk fury.

Of the 11 tracks of grimy power chord-driven chaos, "Destiny" serves as one of the hardest hitting here, snowballing over the first minute into a wall of white noise and feedback before dropping into a charging d-beat. The mixing and subtle production flares throughout the record are never so overstated that they take away from the raw energy that S.H.I.T. bring to the table, but only embellish the strongest parts of their songs.

Their updated version of "Human Kindness," from Demo 2012, is a welcome addition to the set of new tracks. Opener "Spectacle" stands out as another highlight, and sets the pace, with each song just as much of an overwhelming assault as the last. With their latest, S.H.I.T. have put forward one of the fiercest and least diluted hardcore albums of the year. It demands your attention, along with an answer to their burning question.
