Ryan Hemsworth Gears Up for 'Last Words' EP

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Aug 16, 2012

Halifax producer Ryan Hemsworth has steadily been making a name for himself the last little while, with the summer yielding highlights like a remix of Frank Ocean's "Thinkin Bout You" and his recent Juicy J- and Kendrick Lamar-celebrating SLOWED SUMMER mix. The beatsmith reps his own material next week, though, when he drops his Last Words EP.

Wedidit delivers the mini-effort on Tuesday (August 21), and it features five new tracks from Hemsworth, as well as a handful of remixes from Shlohmo, Sam Tiba & Canblaster, Supreme Cuts, and Baauer. You can sample EP opener "Charly Wingate," which bounces percussive ticks off of slick synths and chopped-up vocal samples, in the animated video clip down below.

"Making an EP is limiting in how many tracks you can have and how long it can be, but I think it's a healthy challenge," Hemsworth said in a statement. "I'm trying to put a whole bunch of feelings into under 25 minutes, in a way that can work in the club, bedroom, car, or wherever it's listened to. It's not what every artist intends to do with an EP but I find it fun to approach it that way. That's what I wanted, a bit of everything. Brightness, darkness, positive, negative, quiet, loud. Once the tracks are there, the other stuff slowly falls into place."
