Ryan Adams, Johnny Marr, Tim Armstrong Paint Custom Guitars for Charity

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Fender Stratocaster, and to celebrate the anniversary of this iconic guitar, Fender is teaming up with clothing label Hurley to sell a special line of guitars for the charity Waves for Water. These axes come with custom paint-jobs from some big-name stars.

Among those who designed their own painted guitars are Ryan Adams, Johnny Marr (the Smiths), Tim Armstrong (Rancid), Brandon Boyd (Incubus) and Christian Jacobs (the Aquabats). There are also some contributors from outside the music world, like Don Ed Hardy and Shawn Stussy.

The Stratocasters are currently being sold on eBay, with the auctions ending on November 1. The starting price for each one is $1,120.90, but a few of the guitars already have multiple bids as of press time; Armstrong's black skull Strat has the most bids of the bunch, with five.

Of course, this is all for a good cause, since Waves for Water aims to provide clean water to communities in need around the world.

If you happen to have a couple grand free and fancy yourself a custom-painted Strat, getting bidding (or just look at all the pretty guitars) over on eBay.
