Ryan Adams Announces 'Live After Deaf' Box Set

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jun 13, 2012

Alt-country hero Ryan Adams has hinted that he'll be releasing a new box set titled Live After Deaf.

Taking to Twitter and Facebook yesterday (June 12), Adams posted a photo of said box set with the caption "Live After Deaf. Friday. This will not be repressed."

It might mean that we'll be getting more details on the compilation come Friday (June 15), but so far it appears Live After Deaf will be issued by PAX-AM.

A few years back, it became known that the prolific singer-songwriter was suffering from Meniere's disease —- an affliction that affects hearing and balance. It meant taking a hiatus from touring and recording for the most part, until he returned almost full throttle with Ashes & Fire at the end of 2011.

Taking a solo, acoustic approach to touring for the most recent record, the new compilation's title implies that it may feature material from the post-Meniere's work, although the latest tour did see Adams drawing from as far back as his Whiskeytown catalogue.

Details are sparse for now, but for the amount of work he's put out in the last decade, it's about time the North Carolina native got a decent box set.

UPDATE: Live After Deaf has been confirmed as a live acoustic box set. The following message was posted on Adams's Facebook page:

Oh hey you guys, did you want more information on Live after Deaf ? OK.
