Following a disturbing wave of sexual assault allegations against now-disgraced hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, the New York Police Department is reportedly now investigating the Def Jam co-founder for multiple sexual misconduct claims.

As the L.A. Times reports, the NYPD's special victims unit is looking into at least seven claims of sexual misconduct against Simmons. So far, 11 women have come forward alleging sexual misconduct against the music mogul, with several of the women accusing him of rape.

According to the Times' report, the NYPD is reaching out to several of the alleged victims whom Simmons assaulted in New York.

Earlier today (December 14), Simmons issued another statement defending his innocence and, in the process, launched a #NotMe hashtag.

"Today, I begin to properly defend myself. I will prove without any doubt that I am innocent of all rape charges," he wrote, adding that #NotMe hashtag to his Instagram post.
