Rush Midnight Signs to Last Gang for Debut Album
Russ Manning used to play with Twin Shadow, but he's since gone solo as Young Midnight before releasing an EP under the name Rush Midnight. It's under this latest moniker that he will release a self-titled debut full-length on May 27 through Last Gang Records.

The project dates back to Manning's days in Twin Shadow, when he would write in hotel rooms and mix in the van. These days, a press release explains, he "writes songs in the shadows of his bedroom with the hope of one day writing in the light of the outdoors."

For this LP, Death from Above 1979/MSTRKRFT member Jesse F. Keeler is credited as executive producer.

Influences include '80s funk, Sade and the Police. Listeners might be able to spot those acts in the grooving cut "In Your Room," which is streaming below.

The announcement notes, "The track is about inspiring one another to elevate beyond the bland, to escape the city and find your heaven, whether it is an illusion or a reality."

It doesn't seem that Twin Shadow main man George Lewis Jr. was involved this time around, since there's no mention of him in the announcement. Lewis co-produced Rush Midnight's 2012 EP +1.
