Rules

"You Decide" (lyric video)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Apr 28, 2016

Hamilton-based unit Rules brings together members from Say Yes, the Penske File, the Video Dead, Saint Alvia and Organ Thieves, and the collaborative project recently dropped their debut EP You Decide through Insight Recorders. The release's title track has now been treated to a 14-minute long lyric video, and Exclaim! has got the exclusive premiere.

The four-track EP was recorded live off the floor as one continuous piece of music, but "You Decide" has been broken off and given some special attention thanks to the new clip. The lyric video was animated by Joe Dang, and features underlying footage from a 1966 health video warning of the dangers of LSD.

While the band aren't advocating for or against experimenting with psychedelic substances, they thought using the clip was a perfect way to poke fun the ways in which misinformation gets delivered.

Due to the wide range of members' affiliated projects, no tour plans are currently confirmed, but Rules will make their live debut with a show at Toronto's Bovine Sex Club on April 30.
