Royal Canoe

"Hold onto the Metal" (video)

Winnipeg-based indie pop eclectics Royal Canoe recently dropped their Extended Play EP, and now the group have unveiled a video for the collection's first track "Hold onto the Metal."

Much like My Morning Jacket's "Holdin' on to Black Metal," listeners shouldn't be fooled by the stylistic implications of title, since this track eschews heavy sounds in favour of densely layered vocal harmonies, expansive synths and faintly funky rhythms. As for the video, it shows the band performing while a deep sea diver makes his way through some charmingly homemade-looking underwater props.
