Vancouver's Kingfisher Bluez imprint is hosting its annual Christmas Party on December 20, and as previously reported, the $12 cover charge will let you check out performances from Needles//Pins, B-Lines, Shawn Mrazek Lives! and more, as well as nab you a holiday single from Rose Melberg. Ahead of the festivities, you can hear the record's hot cocoa-sweet take on the Ramones' "Merry Christmas (I Don't Want to Fight Tonight)."
The track dials down the buzzy business of the original number, instead finding Melberg and co-conspirator Gregory Webster harmonizing atop jaunty piano melodies and jing-tinglin' sleigh bells. While subverting the punky tone in favour of a more traditional approach, it's a still welcome seasonal addition to our holiday playlist.
All proceeds from the show at Vancouver's Cobalt and single sales will go to 1-800-SUICIDE and Crisis Centre BC. You can learn more about the show here.
