Rose McGowan

"RM486" (video) (NSFW)

Rose McGowan is apparently steering herself out of the acting world and into the music biz, and has premiered her debut single, "RM486." Ahead of its commerical release this Friday (September 25) you can catch McGowan unveiling the many sides to her musical persona in a new music video.

The track is a shifting electro-ballad full of chopped-and-manipulated piano tones, glossy keys, penetrative disco beats and McGowan's mix of textured vocals. Paired with the soundtrack are sights of McGowan taking on various guises, from a plaster-coated figure, to fiercely pierced, feathered, or sparkled iterations of the self.

Be forewarned, the arty clip features a bit of nudity, so it could be considered NSFW. That said, McGowan explained that the piece deals with body shaming and notions of identity.

She told Nowness: "We're told from when were very young: 'don't upset anybody, don't rock the boat.' Why not? I believe in civil disruption. I also think it's important for bodies to be represented in a non-sexual manner, especially women's bodies."

Directed by Jonas Åkerlund (Lady Gaga), the video to "RM486" can be seen below, courtesy of Nowness.
