Rose Funeral

Crucify Kill Rot

BY Max DeneauPublished Jul 3, 2007

Sometimes it’s a struggle to reassure oneself that mosh can be a good thing. Rose Funeral are definitely not a shitty band but the problem is out of their hands: there are simply too many new jacks that play death/metal/whatever core and the over-saturation ultimately leaves the listener resentful and irritated. Granted, these guys are a good deal more skilled and confident than many of their ilk, and the breakdowns smack you around like a coked out Rick James, but that sense of invasive "sameness” is never rectified. The tastefully placed, melody-driven interlude is by far the most memorable track. This isn’t a reprehensible effort but it’s simply not worth the money.
