Ron Sexsmith

'Carousel One' (album stream)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Mar 23, 2015

Canadian singing and songwriting staple Ron Sexsmith will release his latest LP Carousel One next week, but the album is streaming online a week before its release.

The new record marks the full-length follow-up to 2013's Forever Endeavour, though Sexsmith has been keeping busy in the interim by contributing to records by the likes of Jenn Grant, Andy Kim and Kevin Hearn. He's back in the spotlight now, though he did enlist the help of veteran back-up band members Bob Glaub, Jon Graboff, Don Heffington and John McGinty for the new set of songs.

The album even shows off the singer's lighter side. "I didn't realize until we were putting the songs together for Carousel One that this would be more outgoing, there's a lot more humour," Sexsmith said in a previous statement. "I mean, there's even a smiling picture on the cover, which I've never had before. I just hope it doesn't scare the children."

You can hear the newfound cheerfulness for yourself by streaming the record in its entirety below [via The Guardian]. It officially arrives on March 31 on Warner Music Canada.

UPDATE: This stream is no longer available in Canada until Tuesday (March 23), when the player below will go live.
