Rogue Wave Frontman Goes Solo as Release the Sunbird

Rogue Wave Frontman Goes Solo as Release the Sunbird
Zach Rogue is best known as the frontman for beloved indie pop group Rogue Wave, but the California-based songwriter has recently made good on his moniker by, well, going rogue with a new project. Performing under the moniker Release the Sunbird, Rogue is gearing up to release a new album this summer.

A press release explains that Release the Sunbird is technically both a side-project and solo effort, but at the same time, Rogue benefited from collaborating with drummer Pete Shreiner, bassist/vocalist Kenny Childers and vocalist Kate Long. The result is Come Back to Us, the debut album from the project.

The press release continues to describe Come Back to Us as "glowing from the inside out, the edges of the songs blurring in hazy focus, lifted by beautiful harmonies, meditative phrase repetition and lilting melodies. These songs are not the sort of cast-off melancholia or ambient electronic experiments in which other artists indulge when they've escaped from their band for a moment."

Come Back to Us will be released on July 26 via Jack Johnson's laid back label Brushfire Records.
