Chicago rhymer Rockie Fresh will be delivering his Electric Highway mixtape, his first release since getting signed to Maybach Music Group, on January 21. That's not too far away, but if you need a dose of Fresh before the due date, the rapper has got you covered, as he's just dropped a sneak preview called "Superman OG."
Montreal producer Lunice whipped up the beat, which gets by on blinds-shuttering percussion ticks, wobbly sci-fi synths, and dank and cavernous snaps. Fresh, meanwhile, continues discussing his love for Deloreans — something he repped to the max on last year's Back to the Future-themed Driving 88— and bizarrely calls out people buying into his hype ("fake fans, they ain't even got the mixtape"). It's a backwards tactic, but hopefully for Fresh it gets people downloading his next set.
