Rob Delaney Filmed Scenes as Elvis for 'Rocketman'

The actor permanently dyed his hair black for the role, which was cut from the final film

Dexter Fletcher's recent Elton John biopic Rocketman did an excellent job at showcasing the pop performer's rise, but the film nearly featured another music legend. Specifically, there were scenes involving Elvis Presley as played by comedian Rob Delaney

Talking on his new BBC 6 Music show, Delaney explained he changed his hair for the role.

"I did shoot a couple of scenes in the film as a guy named Elvis Presley, who you may have heard of, and they even dyed my hair black for it," he revealed. "In the makeup trailer, they said: 'Do you want the temporary dye or the permanent?"

He continued, "My hair is black in another movie because of playing Elvis in Rocketman, which got cut, which is very funny, but that's just the way the ball bounces sometimes."

That said, Delaney's experience on his own hit series Catastrophe helped him understand that many scenes don't make the final project.

"I know when Sharon Horgan and I were making Catastrophe, we would frequently cut out things that we really enjoyed, just for time, so I bear no ill-will towards the makers of Rocketman."

Hopefully this means we'll get some Rob Delaney deleted scenes when Rocketman hits Blu-ray later this year.
