Rival Boys

"Sober & Single" on Exclaim! TV

BY Bradley Zorgdrager Published May 1, 2014

Toronto trio Rival Boys are currently in musical purgatory between the recent release of their Ice Storm EP and their upcoming Maple Music Recordings full-length, animal instincts. In the interim, the band shot over to Toronto's The Piston to perform a live version of "Sober & Single" for Exclaim! TV.

The song, which appeared on the aforementioned EP, begins with heavily distorted chords that collide into energetic drums right before a catchy melody takes centre stage. A subdued version prevails during the verses, while the crunchy rock returns for the chorus.

That's not all the "Boys" (who actually have one girl in the mix) have in them, though. The band will return to a Toronto stage as a part of the Exclaim! Takes Over 3030 showcase in the Junction on May 17, just over two weeks before the June 3 release of animal instincts.
