With the previously announced animal instincts due out in May, Toronto trio Rival Boys are building up to the full-length by releasing their Ice Storm EP on February 25. Before that, the mini-collection is available to stream on Exclaim.ca.
The five tracks range from crunchy rock scorchers to atmospheric ballads, with the guitar-driven arrangements sometimes augmented by singer Lee Rose's violin. Climactic closing track "Dream of Stones" touches on all of these sounds.
Ice Storm was self-produced by the band at Toronto's Revolution Recording Studios. Listen below, and look for animal instincts to drop in May.
