Published Oct 17, 2011Details remain scarce but Kevin Mahoney, a founding member of the influential early '80s Boston hardcore band Siege, has died. While his cause of death is unknown, Mahoney is said to have passed away on Friday (October 14).
Forming Siege in 1983, Mahoney was the vocalist and sometimes saxophonist for the group, who played a thrash-influenced form of hardcore with faster tempos. After playing some shows around the Boston area, the group were scheduled to play their first New York show opening for the Necros in 1985, but Mahoney never showed up and the band soon disbanded.
In 1991, Siege briefly reformed with future Anal Cunt frontman Seth Putnam on vocals. Putnam also passed away earlier this year.
