Published Jul 27, 2015His name is synonymous with drumsticks, and now Everett "Vic" Firth has passed away at the age of 85.
Beginning as a performer for the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Firth opted to design his own sticks when he felt the ones he had weren't up to par. Eventually, this led to the creation of the Vic Firth company in 1963. The stick manufacturer eventually merged with Avedis Zidljian in 2010. The company is said to manufacture around 12 million drumsticks a year.
The company confirmed Firth's passing with a post on their official website. You can read it in full below.
