Eight years after debuting in Chicago, the punk rock-minded Riot Fest has announced its first Canadian event. The inaugural up-north edition will take place at Toronto's Fort York: Garrison Common on September 9 and will feature performances from heavy hitters the Descendents, NOFX and Fucked Up, among others.

While not as jam-packed as the three-day event in Chicago (September 14 to 16), a number of acts will grace the Toronto stage. Out-of-town artists also appearing include Andrew W.K., Less Than Jake and the Lawrence Arms, while some notable locals like Mockingbird Wish Me Luck, Organ Thieves and Junior Battles are set to play Riot Fest Toronto as well.

Tickets for the event, which is being sponsored by Exclaim!, go on sale Friday (June 15) at Ticketmaster, Rotate This and Soundscapes. More info about Riot Fest, including another event taking place in Philadelphia on July 19, can be found here.

Also, Riot Fest Brooklyn will follow on September 8, bringing Descendents, Hot Water Music, Gogol Bordello, Screaming Females, the Bronx and more to Williamsburg Park, while on September 22, Riot Fest Dallas will welcome Descendents, the Gaslight Anthem, the Sword, Andrew W.K., and more to the Gexa Energy Pavilion.
