Published Mar 28, 2011Despite his thugged-out persona and constant references to drug dealing, rapper Rick Ross actually started off as a correctional officer and later adopted the drug dealer identity. It was a move that resulted in an identity-related lawsuit from real-life convict "Freeway" Ricky Ross, though the rapper won late last year. Now, however, the Florida-bred MC is working his way toward the convict life after a recent arrest.
Rather than some vast drug cartel charge, Ross was arrested for smoking a little too much weed in a Shreveport, LA hotel room. TMZ reports that Ross was arrested on Friday (March 25) after police detected a strong marijuana odour coming from his hotel room. When officers investigated, they found a gram of weed in plain view.
24HourHipHop reports that Ross was released on a misdemeanour charge, with a summons to return to Shreveport for a court date.
It was a big night for the cops in Shreveport, as Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Jason Peters was also arrested for refusing to turn down the music in his car and refusing to show officers his ID. Both Ross and Peters had been scheduled to appear at the same nightclub.
