Richmond Sluts

These guys add an old twist on the gaunt-faced, strung-out, androgynous rock style that's all the rage these days. Rather than recycling the Stooges and New York Dolls, they dig a little deeper in the past and conjure up Chuck Berry riffs and memorable '60s organ bits for a trashy garage sound with a whole lot of kick. They formed in 1997, in San Francisco, and this is their full-length debut. This one has all the right ingredients: sex, death, drugs and wild youth, delivered with foot-stomping style and summed up in the track "Bittersweet Kiss": "I got what you want and it's in my pants."
