Richard Buckner

Bloomed

BY Jon BartlettPublished Aug 1, 1999

Originally released by German imprint Glitterhouse in 1993, and out of print for some time, Buckner’s debut album is a collection of sad ballads accompanied by the steel guitar of producer Lloyd Maines. Buckner proves once again that he can whine without sounding whiny, his saving grace being his great lyrics. Sieve the rock out of his recent work Since, turn up the twang-o-meter and then you’ll be in the vicinity of his original country sound on Bloomed. Five strong non-album tracks accompany the 12 originals making this a must for the Buckner fan, and something to tide them over until the next record.
