Rich Kidd and SonReal Sign to Black Box for Collaborative EP, Solo Albums

If you were interested in that new documentary about Canadian hip-hop, then you're bound to be similarly excited by the news of a new collaboration between Toronto producer Rich Kidd (who has worked with the likes of Drake, Saukrates and K-os) and Vancouver rhymer SonReal. The pair have an EP coming out on Black Box Music, which will be followed by solo records from both artists.

Not much is currently known about the EP, but it's code-named #TO2VAN, which already has its own website and may become the name of the as-yet-untitled joint release. This team-up doesn't come as a total surprise, since Rich Kidd appeared on SonReal's 2011 single "Already There."

Expect details about the EP's fall release to be confirmed this summer. In the meantime, watch a brief teaser video below, which shows both artists laying down tracks in the studio and reading lyrics off their cellphones.

After the EP drops, look for Rich Kidd and SonReal to release albums of their own through Black Box in early 2013.

In the meantime, both Kidd and SonReal have some upcoming tour dates, which you can see below.

Rich Kidd tour dates:

6/13 Toronto, ON - Rivoli (NXNE)

SonReal tour dates:

6/22 Vancouver, BC - Fortune
6/28 Vancouver, BC - Republic(opening for DJ Premier)
